Location

The Turks & Caicos Islands consist of 40 islands and cays, eight of which are inhabited. The islands are located 550 miles southeast of Miami, Florida, just below the Bahamas chain and just to the east of Cuba and north of the island of Hispaniola (Dominican Republic and Haiti). Providenciales, also called Provo, is the most developed island in the Turks & Caicos offering all modern conveniences, including a wide variety of restaurants, spas, shopping facilities, a championship caliber golf course, a full service grocery store. Nevertheless, Provo is still the ideal destination for anyone seeking peace, tranquility and relaxation.

Getting around on Provo is easy. There is still relatively little traffic. Taxis are readily available, there are also several car rental companies including Avis, Hertz, Budget and some local companies. Please be aware – the Turks & Caicos follow the British traffic system, we drive on the left.

Things to do

Unsurprisingly, most activities in the Turks and Caicos involve the water and the beaches. The Turks & Caicos Islands are surrounded by one of the most extensive coral reef systems worldwide ( 65 miles across and 200 miles long). As a result, the islands are consistently ranked as one of the premier diving locations in the world. Other activities include snorkeling, boating, sailing, para-sailing, bone & deep sea fishing, golfing, tennis and horse riding.

Weather

Temperatures in the Turks & Caicos Islands average between 80 – 84 F (27 – 29 C) during the months of November to May and 85 – 90 F (27 – 29 C) in June through October, sometimes reaching the mid 90s (35 C) in the late summer months.
